Winning Eleven: Mexican License?
Various rumors are leaking out about the newest version of Winning Eleven (no title yet, though I’m secretly hoping for Winning Eleven Eleven). One of the rumors are the additions of new licenses and clubs. The Winning Eleven Blog reports licenses for new teams including Club America of Mexico. We did a little digging, and found this short interview with two Konami representatives at the Electronic Games Show in Mexico City last October. Konami brought Shingo “Seabass” Takatsuka down to Mexico City to show off the games. That, in itself, is interesting, as I can’t remember the last time (if any) that Seabass came to the States for a gaming show. But it makes sense, as Winning Eleven sold more copies in the rest of the Americas combined…including the United States. From the interview:
Interviewer: You’re bring the producer, right, Mr. Seabass. So, what prompted you to bring him (Seabass) here?
Konami1: Well, Seabass is really excited about Winning Eleven in Mexico. We sold more WE in Mexico than in the rest of Latin America and the U.S. So he’s really excited, he wants to see the business here in Mexico, and he would like to see the kind of support that Mexico has given him, so he would like to come over here and thank the Mexican consumers for the great support that they have done.
Interviewer: So any plans to bring the Mexican league to Winning Eleven?
Konami1: That’s one of the requests, yes.
Konami2: That’s certainly what we’re working/hoping for.Interviewer: That would be really exciting.
Konami1: That’s what they’ve been asking us, and that’s the first thing on the list.
This was back in October, so we are hoping that Konami has acquired the license. To our awareness, the only league exclusives that EA hold are the Premier League and the Bundesliga, so this seems within the realm of possibility. We hope to find out more in the upcoming weeks.

Dude, i will lose my mind if they dont get that license. I think we deserve it because of the long history and tradition of the sport in mexico. I hope they also get the national team license. Im bummed though, because cuauhtemoc wont make it to the game since hes in chicago. LET’S GO SHINGO, YOU’RE THE BEST!!!!!
