Microsoft Pissing Off Moms (along with most gamers)!
I recently had another Xbox 360 die. Based on the responses in this thread at DSP, it seems like an all too common occurrence lately. Some folks are on their 4th or 5th console!
My wife alerted me to this article in the June 2007 issue of Good Housekeeping magazine. Sorry if the scan is bad, but I’m in a hurry. It’s basically a complaint from a mom, ironically also from Harrisburg, PA, who had to pay $32 for shipping even though the console was under warranty (it broke after 2 months). Microsoft sent back a refurbished unit and promised to send a hard drive that hadn’t arrived in a month.
I really think Microsoft is on the edge of disaster with the Xbox 360 and has destroyed any gains they’ve made with gamers over the past few years. I’m finished with them. If you add $70 (the amount I have to pay after negotiations) a year to get it fixed over the life of the console along with the $250 or more I’ll pay for XBox Live it’s just not worth it. I’m picking up a PS3 at some point after a price drop (I know Sony has bad products as well but I’ve been lucky with them so far) and then just sticking with Sony and Nintendo until I have a problem with them as well. For the record, Nintendo has been awesome and even sent me a new DS Lite to replace a broken DS Lite that was *out* of warranty.
