The Distance Grows
We all grow attached to our videogame teams. We all have taken a team to the championship. I am sure that I am not the only one to get upset at a professional hockey player because his videogame character scored a key goal during a gaming season. I’m sure I’m not the only person to have booted up and planned to play a few games, but ended up spending two hours just looking at stats. I would print out the stats of my High Heat season and get out a highlighter and spend an hour looking at players in AA to move up or move down. With PC sports videogaming slowly dying. I spend time looking at the stats on the TV. It isn’t the same. It is so hard to really dig through the data and compare. You certainly can’t do anything historical. It really makes it hard to get into the seasons. To really grow attached. You can, and I have, but just not like I once was able to. I really wish that EA or 2K would the ability to have the stats sent in a .csv format via email. This would allow people who care about stats to be able to download the stats and immerse themselves even more in their virtual seasons.

Sports videogames slowly dying on the PC? I strongly disagree. In many cases (MVP, PES, text sims, etc.), it’s worlds better than console offerings. Mostly due to the modding community, but anything that can extend the shelf-life of a game is a positive in my book.
