5,213 DSP forum posts…but this is my virgin blog entry!

I’m not sure whether I should be proud or embarrassed by the number of my forum posts.  It either proves that I am vastly underemployed or an active contributer to a superb online community.  Although I’d prefer the latter, I guess the bottom line is that it indicates that I have a lot to say.  I figured the DSP blog would be a good place to share some of my thoughts in a unique format.  I’ve never blogged before, so this is a new and exciting experience.  I hope the readers can bear with this rookie who is getting his feet wet…

Like Sport and Scoop, I’d like to take the opportunity to introduce myself.  My name is Lee and I’ve been posting in the DSP forum since the summer of 2002.  I lurk and occassionally post at a couple other forums, but DSP has really been my virtual home on the Internet for the past 5 years.  I just turned 39 last week.  I’m a Certified Public Accountant (CPA..or more commonly known in the profession as Can’t Pass Again) and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).  I’m currently employed as an audit manager at a large corporation.  I live in Harrisburg, PA.  In fact, I’ve lived in PA all my life.  I grew up in Western PA about 1 1/2 hours from Pittsburgh.  As a result, I’m a huge Pittsburgh sports fan.  I’m also one of the oddballs that likes both Pitt and Penn State sports.  It was impossible for me to give up my childhood Pitt teams just because I went to Penn State just as it was impossible to *not* root for my own school’s teams.  During my freshman year when Joe Paterno took his clean-cut, hardworking over-achievers to the desert and knocked off the cocky and arrogant Miami Hurricanes, it pretty much sealed the deal that I would be a Penn State football fan for the rest of my life.

I have a wonderful wife and two boys, 2 and 4.  My family is the most important thing in my life and I truly feel blessed.  Family life has really cut into my gaming time, but it’s a welcomed change.  My wife doesn’t game much, but she does enjoy the Wii (primarily Wii Sports and Wario Ware)  and Brain Age/Big Brain Academy on the DS Lite.  Prior to playing games on those recent Nintendo systems, she really only enjoyed Tetris and ICO on the PS2 and Book Worm on the GBA.   I think that speaks volumes about the universal appeal of the latest Nintendo consoles and the potential for growth in the industry.

I own an Xbox 360, Wii, PSP, and DS Lite.  My gamertag is Leebo33.  I don’t have much of a PC gaming rig, but have dabbled in text sims over the years.  I’ve been gaming since Pong, but luckily was smart enough to take a long break during college and then another long break in my mid-to-late 20’s while I concentrated on my career.  In fact, I must be one of the few die-hard gamers my age that never owned a NES or a Playstation (although I did catch up on a lot of classic PS titles on the PS2).  I actually bought a N64 as a gift to myself for passing the CPA exam and reading some good things about All-Star Baseball.  I actually thought that game sucked after playing it, but I did fall in love with Zelda and Perfect Dark among others.  I like a wide variety of games, but I’ve tried to focus on sports games lately and less on shooters and adventure games given my limited gaming opportunities.  I travel some for work and occasionally have to surrender the TV during episodes of Sesame Street or Spongebob, so I do a lot of gaming on the PSP.

I know I’m going to enjoying contributing to the blog and reading everyone else’s entries.  Hopefully, I can provide some entertainment to you in the process.
